Unfortunately the internet is a very hostile place and DDoS Attacks [Wikipedia] are becoming more and more common. In over 8 years in business we've never been the direct target of an attack but it seems today that has changed.
We have been destined by a large DDos attack which first resulted in a few time outs in our networks and we null routed the source quickly. There was another DDos attack destined us right after that which was large enough to take down the whole datacenter network and caused a hours outage in our networks.
